How to use this Wellbeing Calendar

Awareness days and months are a powerful way to start conversations and highlight support. This calendar is designed to help you plan meaningful activity throughout the year. Simply choose the dates that are most relevant to your organisation and use them as prompts for meaningful, proportionate action.

How to implement awareness days at work

Plan with purpose

Focus on awareness days that reflect the needs of your workforce. Build them into your wellbeing plan, but stay flexible and responsive to feedback.

Keep it simple

Awareness doesn’t need to mean big events. Sharing information, encouraging conversations, signposting support, or promoting healthy habits can be just as effective.

Physical health awareness days

Physical health awareness days are a great opportunity to educate, encourage prevention, and signpost support. They can help employees feel more confident managing their health and seeking help early.

Things to consider:

  • Look at the make-up of your workforce.
  • Different groups may face different health risks or barriers to care.
  • Focus on awareness, not pressure.
  • Encourage healthy behaviours without making assumptions or singling people out.
  • Use awareness days to highlight adjustments, flexibility, and workplace support – not just symptoms or diagnoses.
  • Reinforce messages throughout the year, not just on the day itself.

Examples include promoting routine health checks, sharing guidance on managing long-term conditions at work, or reminding staff how to access occupational health support.

Mental health awareness days

Mental health awareness days can act as an important prompt to check in, reduce stigma, and normalise conversations around mental wellbeing.

Ideas to explore:

  • Encourage managers to check in with their teams and ask how people are really doing.
  • Share practical tips on managing stress, workload, sleep, or work-life balance.
  • Remind employees what support is available and how to access it.
  • Equip leaders with guidance on spotting early signs of mental health concerns and responding appropriately.

Make awareness meaningful

Awareness days are most effective when they:

  • Are relevant to your workforce
  • Are backed up by real support
  • Encourage open, respectful conversations
  • Form part of a wider wellbeing approach, rather than a one-off activity

This calendar can help you create a healthier, more engaged workplace where wellbeing is part of how you work all year round.
